BIATCH v1.1 RC1 released

Posted on 13 May 2007 by EvilWhiteDragon
We hereby release BIATCH 1.1 RC1.

It contains various updates, here are some important ones:
- AntiAimbot was updated to counter the updated *cough* antiantiaimbot. (unfortunately, this does still not fully block aimbots)
- Added AntiBigHead feature. Still needs some testing, so it currently only writes to a log file so you know who you should check on bighead.
- Added protection to huge network holes. It was possible to al sorts of nasty stuff, which will be impossible with this update.
- Added SBBO at netcode level (lower level then SSAOW does at the moment) limited at 56K. This will probably be configurable in 1.1 final.
- Changed the logfile directories, and we hope other mods (like SSAOW) are going to use this too, to make everything more clear.

More information can be found in the changelog in the documentation.

We need feedback on the ABH, this means that if someone shows up in the logs as using BH, then you need to test him to be sure, and after that, send the results to us. Tell us if he was actually using BH at that time, or that he wasn't. This so we can determine what would be a suitable action on BH detection. This may vary form just blocking that damage or banning/kicking the one using BH.

Special thanks to Neku for help on the AntiBigHead stuff.

Website updates

Posted on 12 May 2007 by StealthEye
We have updated some parts of the website, which can be seen in the navigation on the left. The various subsections can now be accessed using the expanding menus. For example the BIATCH documentation and clan site were separate websites until now, and have now been nicely integrated in the rest of the site. Also some other parts have been grouped to organise it a little better.
Internally a lot has been changed too, we are now using some sort of custom CMS we made, which is really flexible and simple, so it should be rather easy for us to do site updates, so hopefully we will have more of those. ;)

Another thing is that we switched to a new domain, www.blackintel.org. We have done this mostly because we wanted to get rid of the - in the name, which caused confusion about the proper spelling of BlackIntel. Remember, no dash and no space. ;) We will still keep the old domain registered for quite some time though, so this switch should go fluently. Some people are still having problems with accessing this page at the moment, however forcing a page refresh (by pressing ctrl+f5 in your browser window) should fix these.

Oh, I forgot to say that the rankings are now functioning again, and that you can even sort them by rank/name/kills/etc. Take a look at the rankings page!

BIATCH 1.0

Posted on 24 Apr 2007 by GhostShaw
We hereby release BIATCH 1.0.

It contains various fixes, here are some important ones:
Updated installer and uninstaller (it works now).
Several bugs found in RC 1 have been fixed.
Feet has changed into meters.
Hugely expanded documentation.

The rest of the changes can be found in the changelog in the documentation. You should read the documentation anyway because it conatins much new and important information. We also added better information about the weapons and the amount of damage it can do.

Some people have also been complaining about BIATCH spamming a lot of false-positives. This may happen on servers which have thier objects.ddb/aow damage values modded. Since the client doesn't "know" this, it will send an "illegal" amount of damage. Even though it is the normal damage.
Another problem with this is that because of the clients determining the damage that is applied, the modded server values wont have any effect.

(The documents about BIATCH that were installed with the RC1 version are outdated and will not be updated. So make sure that you visit the site instead of opening the old documentation directory).

New dedicated server box

Posted on 09 Apr 2007 by StealthEye
Last saturday we (Ghostshaw, EvilWhiteDragon and I) installed our new dedicated server in a datacenter in Amsterdam. After working hard to get things set up and running, it seems to be pretty stable and nice now. A few remaining problems will be sorted out soon, but in my opinion it went pretty fluently. We hope this one will even better than the box we used to rent. Due to the enormous amount of things we had to do, fix, explain, etc we kind of forgot about posting a news post, but here it is anyway. ;)

We also switched to a new way to connect to XWIS. Instead of using WolAPI we recoded most of its functionality to be able to keep the servers running when they lose connection to xwis and for some other less interesting reasons. Although it seemed to be running pretty well in test phase it turned out to be impossible to kick or ban players anymore! Also BIATCH could not ban players in that period. That has now been fixed though. :)

We apologise for any trouble caused by these things, like interrupted games or server crashes. However in the end these changes will only have positive effects. We hope you agree there! ;)

Igglyboo's mod rights revoked

Posted on 10 Feb 2007 by EvilWhiteDragon
We were thinking about revoking Igglyboo's mod rights, but we wanted to check if he behaved as bad as we thought he did. Unfortunately we found out that it was perhaps even worse then we thought.

What he did he do you might ask?
Well, he was rather offending towards other players and he used a lot of capital letters. Things that a normal would have gotten banned for.
As a moderator you should actually know that you are not supposed to swear, talk in caps, change teams in empty games, insult others thinking you are great yourself and trying to get money off fellow teammates for your own actions by phases like "Donate me and I will win the game!".
As we want proper and fair moderators, we cannot tolerate this and as a consequence, we had to take Igglyboo's modrights.
