About BlackIntel

Welcome to BlackIntel, home of the BlackIntel servers, coders and of course clan. Our goal is to provide a nice place to stay and hang around for everyone. We currently offer a variety of games, including Renegade X and PlanetSide 2.

If you like our servers, you might want to consider to join our clan. We're a nice clan and are usually not too serious in life. :) We play for fun mostly, although sometimes a serious clanwar can be really entertaining as well. If you feel the same you should really check out the clan section of your favourite game here!

This site is also a place where server owners can get support on our C&C Renegade software or can show their appreciation.

Reserved slots updated

Posted on 18 Aug 2006 by EvilWhiteDragon
Dead6re has joined our ranks and has released it's first mod for BlackIntel.
Dead6re is a nice and skilled coder so we asked him to join us and he agreed to do so :).

Below the contents of his mod:
This is a reserved slots system for Renegade. if the game is "full" then moderators or people who have been added to the temporary mod list will be able to join the last slots in the game.

e.g.

Server admins has 4 slots reserved.
Only people with access can join the last 4 slots, other users will get denied to the game.

Our first client side fix

Posted on 18 Aug 2006 by StealthEye
We have released a client+server fix, that means you need the client and the server patched for it to work. The problem is that it's not compatible with unpatched clients or servers, so there will probably be little ppl using it. If anyone has a way to get this to support unpatched clients as well, please try it or tell it to us. However it is a complex thing and only those who know ASM will probably be able to figure such a thing out. I'm still trying to find a way to do it.
I'm also working on a fig for the annoying "slow turrets" bug. I guess most ppl will understand what I mean by that. If I can figure it out, it will be a clientside patch compatible with unpatched servers most probably.
We forgot to post a news item about this yesterday, sorry for that.

Server Scripts.dll problems.

Posted on 08 Aug 2006 by EvilWhiteDragon
BlackIntel 1 has some problems with CPU usage, and even get AOHost server to lag now and them. Since StealthEye is away till Saturday we cannot do much about it, but after that it will probebly be fixed fast.

To fix the problem I have set the server Fps to 20 since that should be playable ok, and is the only way to control the CPU usage at this moment.

Google adsense advertizing

Posted on 08 Aug 2006 by EvilWhiteDragon
As you might have seen on the forums, we have voted and it appears that most ppl don't really have problems with advertizing, so I put it on the website today.
The purpose of the ads is making some money that can be spend on hosting. This is because this host isn't always as stable as I would like.

Website updates

A couple of days ago we created the ladders for our servers , which you can find here:
BlackIntel 1 Ladder
BlackIntel 2 Ladder

We also made the sidebar much more usable by making some catagories in them. We didn't made them before because we didn't really needed them, but since our website has expaned so rappidly, we feel like we need them now :).

Months of updates

Posted on 30 Jul 2006 by StealthEye
Finally we managed to produce a (hopefully) stable scripts.dll to run at our 3 servers. We have already fixed one or two bugs but think the servers are pretty stable now.
The updates are too many to name. A lot of bugfixes, updates, code improvements, etc. part of the things we have posted online have only been updated by now because we had to wait for certain tthings before running them on our stable servers.

Another major thing is that we've moved our servers to a0000000a, a0000000b and a0000000c. We did not like to use the (we think) a little lame names, but as everyone does it, we would have a huge disadvantage by not using them, so we decided to test it. Results: MANY more players! So we will not switch back. Too bad that most ppl seem to only look at the first page... :/

Lost data

Posted on 14 Jul 2006 by StealthEye
Ok, I tried to add an extra section to the server.dat to load my dll at load time. It worked perfectly yesterday, but today I found a negative effect of it. I tried opening the server.dat with ollydbg and noticed how the many functions and variables I had documented lost their labels and comments. The size of the ollydbg data file was effectively reduced from about 9 MB to a few kB, the auto backup was emptied too, and the newest other backup I have is about 10 days old. So I lost a lot of important data. Especially as I have done a lot of symbol copying from the LFDS to the win FDS lately.
I've been working on some lag fix, although it crashes the client if it has not got a matching patch installed, an improvement to the loading time compensation and a lot of fixes and clean ups in the code, things you will most probably not notice. The data loss made me lose some important things about these mods, which I will have to figure out again.

I'm trying to get a working and stable version ASAP to run on the BlackIntel servers, as the current version is rather old... I'm working on fixing the music player again too, as it has been disabled for too long now :)

Another change we did is the IRC channel structure, #BlackIntel is now the general channel, where you can talk about nearly everything you want. #BlackIntel1 to #BlackIntel3 are the stable always on servers and 4 and 5 are the test servers. Chat is preferred on #BI1 to make things less confusing. :) For those of you who don't know, our channels are hosted on irc.tweakers.net.

Bah, another fix

Sorry, the old blackintel server.dat download did not contain the start button fix. It should be fixed now, thanks to Goztow for telling us about the bug.

Host change

Posted on 04 Jul 2006 by StealthEye
We have changed hosts, as we have not seen our old host for about a month, and we really wanted forums for better internal communication and ofcourse communication with our.. eh.. fans(?) :)

So this is the new place for our site to be, please visit our forums.
